Education: I earned my B.S. in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University in 2002, graduating Suma Cum Laude and with University and Foundation Honors. I then went on to complete my M.S. in chemical engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in the spring of 2005 and am currently working towards my Ph.D. in chemical engineering, also at Caltech.
Research interests: My thesis work is in the area of metabolic engineering in yeast with an emphasis on inducible promoter systems and other strategies for fine-tuning expression of recombinant enzymes/proteins. I am primarily working to produce benzylisoquinoline alkaloids in S. cerevisiae but have also constructed yeast strains which exhibit modified responses from the GAL promoter and am pursuing other RNA-based strategies for regulation by small molecules in vivo.
How I got started in bodybuilding: I always struggled with my weight growing up and found my way into the weight room at a young age while my mom did aerobics. At age 15, I got my own gym membership and went every day after school/work. The owners were hosting a competition and taught me the basics of training, nutrition, and posing, and I have competed every year since age 17.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and fans at Arnold Classic 2008
Monday, March 10, 2008 at 23:22 Same video as the one below without the sound jump at the end. Arnold is not short. Looks short next to his bodyguards.
"Female Muscle Watching" by Jack Johnson
Monday, March 3, 2008 at 20:34 Backstage at the Arnold Classic 2008 women's pre-judging
Flew into Columbus on Friday morning on a small plane whose engine would not start for 35 minutes. Hailed a taxi and talked about the Democratic primary with the taxi driver (for Obama). Hurried over and got my press and shoved my way through thousands of people at the Expo to get backstage for the Women's Prejudging.

Dexter Jackson Arnold Classic 2008 just before the finals
Monday, March 3, 2008 at 12:29 Dexter Jackson backstage moments before his victory Saturday night at the Arnold Classic 2008. He told me he was cold and headed into a small private room. The room smelled of vomit and I warned him, he laughed and paused before he entered. Afraid to touch him and mess up his perfectly oiled physique. Dexter is a great guy and has always been one of favorite male bodybuilders of all time.

The U.S. Weightlifting Nationals are governed by USA Weightlifting. This is a prestigious event that will in part determine key spots on the Team USA for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Brian Moss and Lori Today the Arnold Classic

Complete coverage of the Arnold Classic 2008 here and on femalemuscle.com. Brian's shirt says "Mr. Brooklyn," where I was born and raised. My shirt says "Buffalo Springfield," Neil Young's band from way, way back. What a team we are.
Brian's photography blows me away. One day he decided to pick up a camera and take some photos. The rest is history. He owned one of the largest gyms in New York city for many years "Better Bodies."
He is the best of the best in every way.
I gave Brian jelly beans in case he needed something to eat besides protein shakes and power bars. We love you Brian!
