gerrard3.jpgHot men of the world cup

For millions of TV viewers who are following the World Cup, there is more to admire than mere dribbling and back-heel-passes, namely legs shaped as though  sculpted, seductive smiles, disarming gazes.Latinos, Scandinavians, Central Europeans, Asians, Africans - the tournament is a showcase of sexy men for every taste.  On some of the participating teams, all of the players are good-looking. On others, the charisma of certain players far outshines that of their teammates.

Political tensions notwithstanding, the team whose players have caused the greatest stir with their looks is Iran. Young German women and girls scramble to get  autographs from the raven-haired, intense-eyed .

The tall, strong players of Ivory Coast have also sent many a heart aflutter.
Some media outlets have published rankings of the handsomest World Cup players. No. 1 on the list by the German newspaper Die Welt is Paraguay’s Roque Santa  Cruz, followed by Spain’s Raul and the Portuguese duo Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Super "Mann" leads Arsenal to Paris finals

Only one story in Wednesday's tabloids after Jens Lehmann's penalty save sent Arsenal through to the Champions League final.

Glove affair: Arsenal's Jens Lehmann is the talk of the papers

The Sun, regretting having already used 'Safe Hans' in a previous round, hails 'Super Mann' but reminds us that the Gunners have been known as Lucky Arsenal since the Thirties.

"They appeared to have used up enough good fortune to last another 70 years... but if they play [in Paris] like they did last night they will be going to the French capital just for the ride."

The Daily Star ('History Mann') says that "Lehmann will go down as an Arsenal legend for this... the last season at Highbury and a penalty save in the last moments of the semi-final - is this fate at play?"

I Watched Arsenal Beat Juventus Today 2-0

In a bar with 40 guys in Hoboken.  Everbody "oohed" and ahhhheeeed" at the same time.  Here is Fabregas and BBC Coverage:

fabregas.jpg"Arsenal produced a scintillating performance to take a commanding lead to Turin after the home leg of their Champions League tie with Juventus.

Cesc Fabregas put Arsenal ahead with a low strike from 20 yards and later passed for Thierry Henry to convert into an empty net from 12 yards out.

Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon made good second-half saves from Henry, Fabregas and Alexander Hleb.

Mauro Camoranesi and Jonathan Zebina were both sent off late in the match."
